Poiema Foundation - Education and Public Awareness of Human Trafficking

December Monthly Outreach

Happy New Year!!! I hope you all had amazing Christmas and New Year’s celebrations with your friends and families.

In December, Poiema had 8 outreach campuses go on 15 different routes! We are grateful for our faithful volunteers who chose to serve… even during the holidays! Unfortunately, trafficking doesn’t stop, but often increases when people have time off work. A BIG THANKS to those who chose to use their days off to continue the fight against human trafficking.
I am excited to share the following updates from the outreach teams:

  • M. Smith, one of the young ladies from an early December poster, was located!
  • A few of our outreach teams had college students or other groups attend outreach as a service project. This is such an awesome way to spread awareness and get more people involved in the fight to find these kids!
  • We held an education and outreach event with Northwest ISD Administration where over 40 of their administrators were taught about human trafficking and then went on six routes handing out missing kids posters across the Fort Worth Metroplex. (Photo below)

January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month and January 11th is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day! Join us in spreading the word and shedding light on this rampant issue.

Because of our wonderful partnership with 4TheOne, to date, Poiema has assisted in locating 362 missing minors, 198 of which were victims of sex-trafficking and exploitation.

If you were not able to make it out this month, there are plenty of upcoming opportunities to attend Outreach. You can follow the link below to view the calendar on VolunteerHub.
